![]() ![]() ![]() Wildland Trekking offers several options for getting outside and exploring southern Utah and northern Arizona. While there are countless options for day hikes on your own, guided hiking trips provide an opportunity to learn about the natural and cultural history of the Park. ![]() But if you’re looking to get away from the crowds, see some gorgeous sites, and have a legit off-road adventure, then American ATV is for you.Experience Bryce Canyon National Park by hitting the trail. This is not a guided, amusement park-ish experience. So, as you can tell, we 100% recommend American ATV - for adventurous, competent drivers. We did the full day so that we didn’t need to rush and were glad we did because we really enjoyed our leisurely lunch where we chatted with some locals about the area and their UTVs. I’m guessing another reason is to discourage some folks from sound stupid stuff in mud! Why do customers have to clean it? One reason is that the mud dries quickly and forms a cement-like material. We did run into rain and flinging, hale-sized mud during our last 1/2 hour, so we used the recommended gas station to fill up and wash down. One of the agreement stipulations is needing to wash the vehicle before returning IF it gets excessively muddy. The views are GORGEOUS, and we had a picnic lunch up at Peterson Peak with the most amazing views as the backdrop. The BEAUTIFUL THING is that once we took off, we were by ourselves, free to explore at our leisure and choosing the paths we wanted to take. And your riding time starts from when he actually sends you off, not just a set time on the clock, so you feel comfortable asking questions without worrying about trail time. Dave guided us out to the trailhead and basically walked us through all the terrain we would encounter - making sure we could identify locations on the map he provided in relation to the area he was discussing. Owners Dave and Tina are thorough and thoughtful with all steps in the process- from being clear about what you’re signing to a clear, thorough orientation to the vehicle and the trails. My husband and I rented a UTV from American ATV, and it was an AWESOME experience from start to finish. The green machine we rented is a high end, new machine and Dave is understandably selective about who he rents this to - experienced and responsible ATVers only (preferably with grey hair we suspect! So we qualified LOL) We were perfectly safe and also got to see wildlife - pronghorn, deer, cows, goats, chipmunks, squirrels etc - awesome day. Panguitch is about 25 mins from Bryce Canyon - a cute little historic town right by all the best trails - you'll avoid the touristy crowds and get to enjoy the trails and scenery with a local. Dave will even take you/your group out on guided tours if you wish, especially if you aren't experienced, so don't let that hold you back. The fact that you can rent the ATV right opposite the campground (Hitch-n-Post) and ride to the trails from the campground (no trailer required) is a huge bonus. Marc is an experienced ATVer so we had no issues at all, just a blast of a time - we were out all day so really got our money's worth. We had a great experience renting from Dave who ensured the ATV was in tip top shape before we headed out. We were lucky enough for our group to be led by a couple of locals who know the 3,000 trail miles or so inside out. What a blast! There were about a dozen of us and we got to see so much amazing scenery from trails that most tourists would never get to see. We rented a side by side ATV from Dave for a full day so we could join a group of ATVers from our campground on a backtrail tour of the area. ![]()
